Expo 2020 (opened 2021) was themed – “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future”. Organized in 3 districts, “Sustainability,” “Mobility,” and “Opportunity”, the Expo sought to inspire the over 1 million visitors to change how they see the world. The USA Pavilion, celebrates and explores the unique American spirit that harnesses creativity, rewards risk, and creates a brighter future for all. Jon oversaw all aspects of the pavilion’s 8 exhibit soundtracks for Thinkwell.
Hailed as “the world’s first vertical theme park”, Lionsgate Entertainment World opened in Hengqin, China in July 2019. A four story, indoor theme park presents many challenges, not least of which is keeping IP’s separated physically AND sonically. Jon joined the Ears Up sound design team to integrate park-wide BGM for all areas including food and beverage and retail for Thinkwell Asia. Additionally, Jon was tasked with mixing interactive attractions that were part of the park’s 25 overall rides and attractions.
PortAventura’s new area for 2019: “SésamoAventura” is a highly stylized land especially designed for children. The “Street Mission” dark ride is the first Sesame Street dark ride in Europe and it’s the flagship attraction in the new area. Sally Corporation called on Jon with his two decades of collaboration with Sesame Workshop to compose the synchronized score for this interactive 3D ride where the guests use their “clue collector” device to solve the mystery of the missing cookie.
